BIOGRAFÍA
Domingo Zapata es un artista, escritor y diseñador de moda español. Se convirtió en artista a tiempo completo en 2002 y vendió su primera pintura importante a George Soros en 2005. En 2017, lanzó una colección de moda en la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York y también publicó su primera novela, The Beautiful Dream of Life.
STATEMENT DEL ARTISTA
Zapata ha sido referido como el "próximo Andy Warhol" tanto por su sensibilidad al arte pop como por su estilo de vida de celebridad. También ha sido descrito como un neoexpresionista debido a su uso de colores brillantes y su método de pintura "visceral", "similar al graffiti". Zapata ha notado que usa el color para evocar y representar emociones (generalmente felicidad). Muchas de sus obras exploran elementos temáticos como "sexualidad, opulencia y vitalidad", a menudo incorporando texto en la obra de arte. Zapata suele crear diferentes series basadas en un solo tema. Estos incluyen su serie Polo, serie Matador, serie Diez (retratos de mujeres "icónicas"), serie Mona Lisa, serie Panda y otras.
